Correspondence, 1875-1896, includes letters written by Janet Dougall to her parents, 1879-1883; letters written by Joseph Dougall to his wife Maria, 15 April 1875-6 February 1893; letter written by Maria Dougall to her husband Joseph, 19 September 1896; letters from Joseph Dougall to his three children, 11 June 1875-24 December 1875; and three letters from E. Phillips to the Dougall family, 1881 and 1883. Also, an account of Intromissions, with the trust funds and estate of Janet Dougall, 1882; and two menus from voyages on the Orient steamship "St. Osyth."

James Weston (1688-1751) was a teacher and practitioner of stenography in London. Weston wrote the most extensive English stenographical lecture book, Stenography compleated, published in 1727.
